Berkshire Under 10s too strong for Devon

The u10 boys dream of another festival trophy
Berkshire came up against the potentially strong Devon team in a 45 over match at Taunton. Putting Devon in to bat, Berkshire quickly made inroads into their top order and after 10 overs the west country team were reeling at 26 for 5, with wickets falling regularly to the spin of Connor Lamsdale (3 for 8) and Max Meader ( 1 for 4) and the pace of Sam Smith (1 for 8). There was no let up for the Devon batsmen as Aayan Malik produced a fine spell of 3 for 9 to wipe out the late middle order. Although there was a valiant last wicket stand of 18, Devon's innings ended after 23 overs at 66 all out.
Devon's bowling was accurate but Berkshire, after an early run out, settled down to knock off the runs for the loss of Charlie Hunt's wicket at 66. Charlie (25) and opener Jensen Kelsey (27 not out) had moved the scoreboard steadily towards the target, and there was no doubt that Berkshire would end up as comfortable victors with over half the overs remaining and maximum points in the bag. A great team performance, applying pressure throughout the game with both bat and ball.
